TEACHERS:

Heather Yaxley, MYCC - Teaching MYC combines two of my fondest interests ... music and children. I have been teaching MYC since 2003 and my goal is to inspire children's musical interest and work with them to build solid musical foundations. Whether a child pursues further musical studies or simply has wonderful memories of music class ... my desire is that they will love music for their lifetime! I began piano lessons when I was 7 years old and enjoyed them for many years, advancing to the grade 10 level. I furthered my musical education at UVIC through electives in rudiments, history and composition and completed my MYCC certification in 2006. I believe MYC creates a fun, positive environment for learning and self-expression while building a solid foundation for enjoying and understanding music. I am so convinced of the benefits of MYC that both of my energetic boys are in the program. Everyday I see how MYC provides them with the best possible musical foundation. And, they love it, too! I look forward to joining you and your child on your musical journey.

Julia Nobel, BA CYC - My goals as an MYC Teacher are simple: to help children develop a life-long love of music and to give them tools that will help them grow into healthy adults. I began studying the piano when I was three years old and have been involved in music ever since. In addition to 17 years of musical studies, I also completed a Bachelor's Degree in Child and Youth Care in 2003. When I'm not busy teaching MYC, I also work at a preschool and I am the Director of Children's Programming at a local church. After so many years of working with children, I have seen the difference that music makes in their lives, and I love being a part of this learning process!

"MYC provides the necessary structure for learning to take place while allowing children the freedom to think. Children
are empowered to set goals in their music learning while experiencing a playful, positive environment."

~Barbara Coloroso, Educator/Author of "Kids are Worth It!"
